JIM CARR GOALIE TRAINING

My name is Jim Carr and I have been playing hockey as a goaltender for approximately 20 years. I have also been coaching children for about 12 years.

Goaltending has many different facets that should be taught. There is not just one style and we, as goaltenders, need to learn all the different styles and ways to react to situations. This is what I train my students.

I teach a strong focus on foot movement, positioning and acrobatic. By teaching both positional and acrobatic skills, my students will not be just a butterfly goalie or a traditional goalie but a true hybrid goaltender who knows to react to every situation.

If your team is interested in contacting me to schedule some training sessions, you can reach me by email at jim@mmphotos.ca or by phone at

488-2662. Training will be offered on a first come serve basis.

Thanks for your consideration

Jim Carr

CREASEWORKS GOALTENDER DEVELOPMENT

Getting Started: Training Camp for Brand New Goaltenders

There is no single element that contributes more to Goaltender success than excellent footwork and skating skills. We have built a progressive 8 week Mobility based training camp that is open to IP 2, Novice and Atom age goaltenders who are brand new to the position and wish to create nothing but good habits in their game right from the start. We are accepting up to a maximum of 24 goaltenders with 8 stations set up on the ice each night.

The early stages of the camp will focus heavily on the mobility aspect of the game and being able to navigate the crease effectively. Once the goalie has become efficient with their pre-save preparation we will move into simple first save scenarios, making saves based on solid positioning and control. The final stages of the camp, while still being mobility focused, will bring the entire package together. This package is made up of drills that force the goalie to build a step system into how they play.  These steps are as follows:

1.     Position based on strong footwork and puck tracking skills

2.     Save Execution based on shot location

3.     Recovery skills based on rebound location and the pucks proximity to the net

Goaltending, being the most demanding position in all of sport, requires a specialized learning environment. We feel that this style of program will provide the means for any young goaltender to build a strong foundation into their game.

Feel free to contact us at creaseworks@hotmail.com for any additional information you may require.

You are now officially, IN THE CREASE!

We are establishing a new program here at the The Sackville Sports Stadium where by we offer sport specific training to teams and individuals for all sports including hockey.

I would love the opportunity to work with your teams as well as any individuals who may want that extra training to gain that competitive edge.

Contact me or have me meet with your team to introduce myself and the program. We have adjusted our rates to meet the budgets of teams and make it more cost friendly.
