Rec Teams are Gaining 'Steam'

2014-11-09

Rec Teams and Bantam AA worked together on Sunday

Our Bantam AA team showed up to help our Rec teams for a "team systems practice" on Sunday at the Arena.

Our goal is to get all SMH players on the same page with the fundamentals of today's game of hockey. Once all on the same page, this will free up practice time for skill development and Sackville players will be the cream of the crop!

This is one of the main goals of our new Rec Development Program, helping our rec players gain the skills required to perform our SMH systems... and they certainly showed off their skills today... learning quickly and putting it into action.

VP Development Andrew Wigginton was definitely impressed by what he saw today!

During D-zone practice,
D-man Jake Swinemar of the Atom Sharks put his game face on, proving he enjoys team drills much better than power skating, as he listened, learned and played our SMH gameplan to a “T”.

Kiegan Farrell of the PW Leafs was all smiles as usual while he skated side to side to get in position.

While practicing the attack triangle,
Noah Lerette of the PW Bruins showed of his wrist shot, beating goalie Michael English high to the glove side. The crowd was amazed by the display of sportsmanship by the young netminder who, instead of smacking his stick off of a post, nearly chased the older(?) Lerette all the way to center ice to tell him how nice his shot was… What a teammate!

Evan Maynard of the PW Sharks appeared to fit right in on a line with the Bantam AA’s. His hard work had the boys trying to keep up with him… as a result Evan is being called up and will be in the lineup tonight vs the Chebucto Atlantics playing alongside Ben Sheffar and Cam Kendall.

It was a real life Trueman show during the Atom Sharks practice as Ashton got to play alongside his big bro Blake. Here’s to hoping Ashton is in the driveway showing Blake how to put home the big one timer!

Of note, Camillo Riesgo of the PW Canadiens and Devontay Conrad-Deleon, PW Leafs have been traded to Bedford for liking Akexander Ovechkin better than Sidney Crosby... Devontay’s younger brother Terrance is rumoured to be part of the deal as they clearly do everything together!

In other news, there is a Dolphin on the Atom Sharks!!
